Best Pinterest MCP Servers in 2026: 12 Compared for Creating and Scheduling Pins

Pinterest's own MCP server is announced but not launched. We checked 12 Pinterest MCP servers against their own docs and Pinterest's API rules: which create Pins, which do carousels and boards, which only scrape, and what they cost.

"Not stated" means the vendor's own page does not say. It does not mean the feature is missing. Vendors change fast in this space, so open the linked page before relying on any single cell.

Pinterest's own MCP server isn't out yet. Pinterest has announced one at api.pinterest.com/mcp, but its page still collects sign-ups for the launch. The servers you can use today are third-party, and they do very different jobs. Some create and schedule Pins with their own approved Pinterest app. Some put a single "Create Pin" action inside an automation platform. And one of the most visible results only scrapes images.

This page sorts the twelve that come up most, using two sources only: each vendor's own documentation or README, and Pinterest's developer documentation at developers.pinterest.com. Everything was checked on 15 October 2026, and every row links to where the fact came from. For servers that post to every network, not just Pinterest, see social media MCP servers compared.

The four kinds of Pinterest MCP server

Every server below is one of four kinds, and the kind decides what it can do and what setup it needs:

  1. Hosted publishers. You connect Pinterest once and ask your AI to make Pins. Antwork, Markifact, PostOnce and PostEverywhere sign you in; Upload-Post and Ayrshare give you an API key to paste.
  2. Automation platforms. Pinterest is one connector among hundreds, used as a step in a wider workflow. Composio, Zapier and Activepieces.
  3. Self-hosted on your own developer app. Open source on GitHub. You register a Pinterest app, put its client ID and secret in a config file, and run it on your machine. clugtu/pinterest-mcp and collactivelabs/pinterest-mcp-server.
  4. Scrapers. They search and download public Pinterest images without the API, and they cannot post. terryso/mcp-pinterest.

What Pinterest's API lets any MCP server do

Before comparing tools, it helps to know what Pinterest's API allows. That decides what any Pinterest MCP server can do properly, and it answers most "why can't my AI do X on Pinterest" questions.

What you want the AI to doOfficial API?What to knowSource
Create a Pin with an image or a videoYes, POST /v5/pinsEvery Pin needs media and a board. Video Pins need a cover imageCreate Pin
Make Pins other people can see, from your own appStandard accessWith Trial access, Pins and boards "are only visible to their creator as Sandbox entities"Access tiers
Get Standard accessApp reviewPinterest wants a video of your app completing an action, and of the OAuth flow even "if you are the only intended user"Access tiers
Test without posting for realYes, the sandboxapi-sandbox.pinterest.com, v5 only, with a sandbox tokenSandbox
Create, edit and delete boardsYesBoards and board sections have their own endpointsBoards
Read Pin and account analyticsYesImpressions, saves, Pin clicks and outbound clicksUser account analytics

Three practical consequences:

  1. No media, no Pin. Pinterest has no text-only Pin, so an assistant that only writes text cannot post. It needs your image or video, or one it generates first.
  2. A new developer app posts into a sandbox. With Trial access, a self-hosted server's Pins and boards are only visible to you, until Pinterest grants Standard access. Hosted servers already have it, which is most of what you pay them for.
  3. Video needs a cover. A video Pin without a cover image fails. Some servers make one for you, and some leave it to you.

Pick by job

  • Publish your own Pins from Claude or ChatGPT. Use a hosted server that signs you in with Pinterest. Antwork, Markifact and PostOnce work that way in claude.ai and ChatGPT, with no developer app and no key in the chat.
  • Carousels, board management and detailed analytics. Markifact documents the widest organic surface here: carousels, video with a cover, boards and sections, and Pin and video metrics.
  • Create a Pin as the last step of an automation (a new blog post, a new product in the store). Zapier, Composio or Activepieces.
  • Find and download Pinterest images for a mood board. terryso/mcp-pinterest, free, on your machine, read-only.

Publishing servers, one by one

Antwork

OursVendor docs ↗

A hosted MCP server at https://api.antwork.io/mcp. You add the URL to your AI app, sign in to Antwork, and connect Pinterest once on Pinterest's own login screen. It asks only for Pin, board and account read access (pins:read, pins:write, boards:read, boards:write, user_accounts:read), so there is no developer app and no key. Each Pin takes one image (JPG or PNG, up to 32 MB) or one video (MP4 or MOV, up to 15 minutes) with a cover image, a title of up to 100 characters and a description of up to 800. If your account has several boards, your AI asks which one. Before drafting, your AI reads your recent Pins and how they did, so new Pins start from what already works on your account, and every Pin lands as a draft you approve before it is scheduled or published. Afterwards it reads back impressions and saves. The same connection covers Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Threads, TikTok and YouTube. More on Pinterest in Antwork.

Limits
One image or one video per Pin: no carousels. It does not set a destination link on the Pin, does not add alt text, and does not create boards from the chat. It does not read Pin clicks or run Pinterest ads.

The most complete organic Pinterest server on this page. Its page describes single-image Pins, carousels of two to five images, and video Pins with an optional separate cover, with board, section, title, description, alt text and destination link. It lists, creates, updates and deletes boards, and reports impressions, saves, Pin clicks, outbound clicks and video metrics. Writes are gated: "every organic write waits for your approval", while reads run immediately. You connect with OAuth and need no developer app. It names Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex and Gemini CLI, and offers a separate Pinterest Ads MCP. Prices are not stated on the page.

A hosted server at https://postonce.to/mcp, with an MIT-licensed repo. In Claude and ChatGPT you add it as a custom connector and sign in, with no API key; in Codex and Cursor you set an API key as an environment variable. It publishes or schedules image Pins, carousels of up to five images and video Pins of 4 seconds to 5 minutes, saves drafts, and edits or cancels scheduled Pins, with a title, a link and a board ID. It says plainly what it does not do: alt text, board sections, creating or listing boards, analytics, comments, and editing a Pin that is already live. The account is "free for 7 days, no card".

PostEverywhere

Vendor docs ↗

A scheduler with its hosted MCP server and API "included on every plan", from $9 a month after a 7-day trial that needs a card. Your agent writes the title and description, pulls media from a URL, and publishes, schedules or saves a draft; you name the board in your prompt. One honest limit on its own page: "Video Pins need a cover, which agents cannot set, so finish those in the composer."

Upload-Post and Ayrshare

Two developer-first posting APIs that authenticate with a key of their own. Upload-Post's open-source MCP server publishes a Pin with a title, description and link, lists your boards, manages scheduled Pins and pulls impressions and saves; it works on the free tier, and paid plans start at $24 a month. Ayrshare's Pinterest API takes a board ID, a title, a destination link, alt text, carousels of up to five images, and video with a required thumbnail. Its MCP server authenticates with a static Bearer header, which claude.ai personal connectors cannot send, so use it from Claude Code, Cursor or your own agent.

Composio, Zapier and Activepieces

Composio has the widest Pinterest toolkit of the automation platforms: 27 tools through a managed OAuth app, covering Pins, boards, board sections, account and Pin analytics, top Pins, and keyword, inspiration and product trends. Its free Hobby plan includes 100,000 tool calls a month. Zapier's Pinterest MCP has one write action, Create Pin, plus triggers for new boards, followers and Pins, at two tasks per call. Activepieces is open source (MIT) with six Pinterest tools, including Create Pin and Create Board, and its MCP server is included on every plan, self-hosted installs too. All three suit a Pin triggered by something outside the chat more than drafting in it.

clugtu and collactivelabs

Vendor docs ↗

The do-it-yourself route. clugtu/pinterest-mcp (MIT, last updated March 2026) wraps API v5: it creates, updates and deletes Pins, manages boards, searches Pins and reads Pin and account analytics. It needs "a Pinterest Business account and a registered app". collactivelabs/pinterest-mcp-server ranks near the top for "pinterest mcp server", but it has seven tools for user info, boards and Pins and has not been updated since May 2025. Both run locally with your own app's credentials, so they work in Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Cursor, not in claude.ai or ChatGPT. Remember the sandbox rule: until Pinterest grants your app Standard access, the Pins they create are visible only to you.

Servers that only read

terryso/mcp-pinterest is one of the most visible results for "pinterest mcp", and it does a different job. It searches Pinterest by keyword and returns or downloads images, using a headless browser rather than Pinterest's API, so it needs no key and cannot post. It is MIT-licensed and was last updated in July 2025. Useful for gathering reference images for a mood board; not for managing an account. (GitHub)

Pinterest's own MCP server

Pinterest's developer page describes an official server at https://api.pinterest.com/mcp, working with "tools such as Claude, Cursor, and VS Code", that can "search Pins, explore and manage Boards, uncover emerging trends, and access audience insights". Pinterest's June 2026 announcement frames it around campaigns, analytics and keyword insights, built with advertising agencies as alpha partners. On 15 October 2026 the page still reads "Be the first to know when it launches", and its FAQ on price, developer accounts and availability has no answers yet. When it ships, check whether it creates organic Pins; nothing published so far says it does. (developer page)

How to connect a Pinterest MCP server

The steps are the same for any hosted server. Here they are with Antwork's URL; swap in your vendor's.

  • Claude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop): Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, paste https://api.antwork.io/mcp, sign in, then ask Claude to connect Pinterest and approve it on Pinterest's own screen. Full steps in the Claude setup guide.
  • ChatGPT: turn on Developer mode in Settings → Security and login, open Plugins in the sidebar, click +, and paste the URL. ChatGPT only accepts remote servers, so local GitHub servers will not work here. Walkthrough: the ChatGPT setup guide.
  • Claude Code: run claude mcp add antwork --transport http https://api.antwork.io/mcp, then /mcp to sign in.
  • Cursor: add the URL as a remote MCP server in Cursor's MCP settings.

Then ask something concrete:

Before you give an AI publish rights

  • Prefer OAuth over pasted keys. An OAuth grant can be revoked from your Pinterest settings. A client secret or API key in a config file lives wherever that file goes.
  • Keep a review step. An assistant with publish rights and an untrusted web page in its context can be talked into posting. Choose a server that drafts first and publishes only on an explicit request.
  • Check what the grant covers. Board write access lets a server delete boards, and on Pinterest deleting a board deletes every Pin on it.
  • Use images you have the rights to. A scraper makes it easy to collect other people's Pins; reposting them as your own is a different thing.

Post from your AI, in your own voice.

Connect Claude or ChatGPT once. Drafts start from your recent posts, and nothing goes out until you approve it.

FAQ

Pinterest MCP servers, answered

Does Pinterest have an official MCP server?
Announced, not launched. Pinterest's developer page describes a server at https://api.pinterest.com/mcp for tools 'such as Claude, Cursor, and VS Code', able to 'search Pins, explore and manage Boards, uncover emerging trends, and access audience insights'. On 15 October 2026 it still says 'Be the first to know when it launches', and its FAQ questions on cost, developer accounts and availability have no answers yet. Pinterest's June 2026 announcement names advertising agencies as its alpha partners.
Can an MCP server post Pins to my Pinterest account?
Yes. Antwork, Markifact, PostOnce, PostEverywhere, Upload-Post, Ayrshare, Composio, Zapier and Activepieces all create Pins, as do the self-hosted clugtu/pinterest-mcp and collactivelabs/pinterest-mcp-server. Each Pin needs an image or a video and goes on a board, so the server either asks which board or uses the one you name.
Why are the Pins I create with a GitHub MCP server invisible?
Most likely your developer app is on Trial access. Pinterest's access tiers page says 'all Pins and Boards created with Trial access are only visible to their creator as Sandbox entities'. To publish normally you need Standard access, and Pinterest asks for a video of your app completing an action, and of the OAuth flow 'if you are the only intended user'. Hosted servers already have that access.
Can a Pinterest MCP server make carousel or video Pins?
Some can. Markifact documents carousels of two to five images and video Pins with a cover, PostOnce documents carousels of up to five images and video Pins of 4 seconds to 5 minutes, and Ayrshare's Pinterest API takes up to five images and needs a thumbnail for video. Antwork posts one image or one video per Pin, with a cover image for video. PostEverywhere says agents cannot set a video cover, so you finish video Pins in its composer.
Is there a Pinterest MCP for Claude?
Not one from Anthropic or Pinterest yet. You add a third-party server to Claude as a custom connector (claude.ai and Claude Desktop) or with `claude mcp add` (Claude Code). Hosted servers with sign-in, such as Antwork, Markifact and PostOnce, work in claude.ai. Local GitHub servers only run in Claude Desktop or Claude Code.
Is there a free Pinterest MCP server?
Yes. The three GitHub servers here are free and open source (clugtu/pinterest-mcp and terryso/mcp-pinterest are MIT). Composio's free Hobby plan includes tool calls through its managed Pinterest app, Activepieces is free to start and can be self-hosted, Upload-Post's server works on its free tier, and Antwork makes the first two connected accounts free.
