Which one to use

Picking a YouTube size

A thumbnail is 1280 × 720 at 16:9, and should not go below 640 × 360. Search and the home page show it far smaller than that, so it has to read at a glance.

The channel banner is uploaded at 2560 × 1440, but only the 1546 × 423 safe area shows on every device. Shorts are vertical at 1080 × 1920.
