How TikTok behaves
Sprout Social puts TikTok's best window at Tuesday to Friday, 2 to 6 PM, with Wednesday the widest at 1 to 8 PM and Monday narrower at 3 to 5 PM. Afternoon, not late night: the common advice to post at 9 or 10 PM does not match what the data shows. Monday to Friday all work, weekends are the worst.
Those figures come from Sprout Social's 2026 study of nearly 2 billion engagements across around 307,000 profiles, measured in the audience's own local time, so no timezone conversion is applied. Because the For You feed keeps resurfacing videos for days, treat the window as a head start rather than a deadline.
What to do with it
Post about 30 minutes before peak so your video has time to gather early views.
The first hour of watch time and completion rate tells TikTok whether to push your video further.
Hook viewers in the first two seconds. Watch-through rate matters more than posting time.
Check TikTok Analytics (Pro account) under Followers to see when your audience is most active.
Post consistently, ideally daily, to give the For You algorithm more chances to land a hit.
Repost or stitch winning videos during peak windows to extend their reach.

The time zone
How the time zone works
Every hour on this page is in your audience's local time, because that is how Sprout Social measures it. Wednesday at 3 PM means 3 PM wherever your followers are, so for them the numbers need no converting.
The only conversion is to your own clock, when you post from somewhere else. Choose the zone where most of your followers live in the selector at the top, and the answer card tells you when to press publish.
