Sprout Social measures X's best window at Tuesday to Thursday, 12 to 6 PM, with Monday narrowing to 2 to 3 PM plus a slot at 5 PM. It is a working-hours network: weekends and early mornings are both listed among its worst times, so the picture is tighter than X's reputation for round-the-clock activity suggests.
Those figures come from Sprout Social's 2026 study of nearly 2 billion engagements across around 307,000 profiles, measured in the audience's own local time. Posting several times a day is still normal on X, so spread posts across that afternoon band rather than clustering them on one hour.
What to do with it
Post into the midday peak, then reply to early quote tweets and replies to keep the post circulating.
Threads perform best when the whole chain goes up at once rather than drip-fed over hours.
The first 30 minutes decide reach on X more sharply than on slower feeds. Be around to respond.
Sprout Social names no weekend window for X, so keep weekends for posts that do not depend on a strong first day.
Posting several times a day is normal on X and rarely penalized, unlike on Instagram or LinkedIn.
