4 Best Postiz Alternatives in 2026 (MCP and Pricing Checked)

Postiz is open source with an MCP server. These are the alternatives if you want a free tier, no server to run, deeper analytics or a pure API: Antwork, Buffer, Metricool and Ayrshare, each checked against the vendor's own pages on 10 October 2026.

postiz alternative

The best Postiz alternative depends on why you looked at Postiz in the first place. Postiz is open source, self-hostable, covers 30+ networks and ships a hosted MCP server on every plan. People look elsewhere for one of four reasons: they want a free tier, they don't want to run or pay for a server, they need deeper analytics, or they are building a product on a social API.

Below are four alternatives with an MCP server each, sorted by those reasons. Every competitor fact links to the vendor's own page, last verified on 10 October 2026. Where a vendor does not state something, we say so instead of guessing.

Disclosure: we build Antwork, one of the tools below. It is listed with its limits, and where another tool is the better answer, this page says so.

For every social media MCP server side by side, see the social media MCP servers compared.

Pick by need

  • Post from Claude or ChatGPT, no server, free to start: Antwork.
  • A simple scheduler app with an MCP on the free plan: Buffer.
  • Analytics, competitors and ads reporting your AI can query: Metricool.
  • An API to build social posting into your own product: Ayrshare.
  • Self-hosting, 30+ networks or AI images and video: stay on Postiz.

What you are comparing against: Postiz

Postiz's pricing: Standard $29 a month for 5 channels, Team $39 for 10, Pro $49 for 30, Ultimate $99 for 100; billed yearly, $23, $31, $39 and $79. There is no free hosted tier, only a 7-day trial on every plan. Postiz says "every Postiz plan includes the hosted MCP server, the Postiz CLI, the public API and webhooks."

The code is open source on GitHub under AGPL-3.0, and self-hosting is available, but Postiz's pricing page calls it "a secondary option; the hosted platform is where the agent features ship first."

The Postiz MCP page gives one OAuth link for every client, https://mcp.postiz.com/mcp-oauth-dynamic, with "no API key needed", and lists Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex and Gemini CLI among others. In Claude there is also an official Postiz connector in the directory, which covers posting, scheduling and analytics but not image or video generation. On a self-hosted instance, Postiz's MCP docs use an API-key URL on your own host.

The alternatives, one by one

Antwork

Best for: people who want to post from Claude or ChatGPT without running anything. Antwork is a hosted MCP server at https://api.antwork.io/mcp: you add the URL as a connector, sign in with OAuth, and connect your social accounts. There is no API key, no server and no Docker. Before drafting, your AI reads up to 15 of the account's recent posts with their engagement, so drafts start from how that account already writes. A campaign sends a separate post to each account, each with its own text, and post previews and the calendar render inside Claude and ChatGPT.

Pricing: 2 accounts free with unlimited posts, then $5 a month for each account after. It publishes to LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Facebook Pages, Threads, TikTok, YouTube and Pinterest, and connects to Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf and Gemini CLI.

Limitations against Postiz: not open source and not self-hostable; 8 networks against Postiz's 30+; no image or video generation; no inbox. In ChatGPT it needs Developer mode switched on.

Buffer

Best for: a simple scheduler app your AI can also drive. Buffer's MCP server is at https://mcp.buffer.com/mcp; Claude and ChatGPT connect with a one-click OAuth approval from Buffer's Integrations page, per Buffer's help center. Through it your AI can create, schedule, edit and delete posts, save ideas, manage templates and read post metrics.

Pricing: Buffer's pricing: a free plan for 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts per channel; Essentials $5 per channel a month, Team $10. Buffer says "MCP access is included on every Buffer plan, including Free." It supports 12 networks, including Bluesky, Mastodon and Substack.

Limitations against Postiz: not open source; per-channel billing adds up past a handful of channels; MCP calls share the plan's API request allowance (3,000 a month on Free). Full comparison: Buffer MCP vs Antwork.

Metricool

Best for: analytics. Metricool's MCP is at https://ai.metricool.com/mcp, in Claude's connector directory and ChatGPT's Apps, with OAuth sign-in, and Metricool says it works on any plan, Free included. Your AI can read brand and ad-account analytics, schedule posts at Metricool's recommended best time and send posts for review. Its competitor tracking and ads reporting are stronger than anything else on this page.

Pricing: Metricool's pricing: Free for 1 brand and 20 scheduled posts a month (no LinkedIn or X); Starter from €16 or $20 a month for 5 brands billed yearly (€20 or $25 monthly); Advanced from €43 or $53 billed yearly (€54 or $67 monthly).

Limitations against Postiz: not open source; the MCP has no inbox, comments or ads campaign management; X is an add-on on paid plans. Full comparison: Metricool MCP vs Antwork.

Ayrshare

Best for: developers building social posting into their own product. Ayrshare is a social media API; its MCP server at https://api.ayrshare.com/mcp exposes 33 tools and authenticates "only with a static Authorization: Bearer request header." It works in Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, n8n and any client that can set headers.

Pricing: Ayrshare's pricing: Premium $149 a month for 1 profile (up to 14 social accounts), Launch $299 for up to 10 profiles with a 28-day free trial, Business $599, Enterprise custom.

Limitations against Postiz: Ayrshare says a personal custom connector in claude.ai, Claude Desktop or Claude mobile cannot send the Bearer header, so it does not work there. Since 31 March 2026, X operations need your own X OAuth 1.0a credentials. It is the most expensive entry price here and is built for developers, not for a person scheduling their own posts.

When to stay on Postiz

Postiz is the right answer if you want the code: you can read it, self-host it and keep your data on your own server. It is also the widest here, with 30+ networks, and its custom MCP connector includes image generation, video generation and clipping that none of the alternatives above offer. If you are happy paying from $29 a month for the hosted version, you also skip running a server.

The alternatives win when you want a free hosted tier (Antwork, Buffer, Metricool), deeper analytics (Metricool), or an AI-first workflow where drafts start from each account's own posts and appear as previews in the chat (Antwork).

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Still stuck? Talk to us
What is a good alternative to Postiz?
It depends on why you are leaving. For a free tier with no server to run, Antwork (2 accounts free, unlimited posts), Buffer (3 channels, 10 scheduled posts each) or Metricool (1 brand, 20 posts a month). For analytics and competitor research, Metricool. For a developer API to build on, Ayrshare. All four have MCP servers.
Is Postiz free?
The code is free: Postiz is open source under AGPL-3.0 and you can self-host it. The hosted platform has no free tier, only a 7-day trial on every plan, with paid plans from $29 a month for 5 channels ($23 billed yearly).
Does Postiz have an MCP server?
Yes. Postiz says every plan includes its hosted MCP server, at https://mcp.postiz.com/mcp-oauth-dynamic with OAuth sign-in, and lists an official Postiz connector in Claude's directory. Its docs also describe an API-key URL, including for self-hosted instances.
Which Postiz alternative works in claude.ai without an API key?
Antwork, Buffer and Metricool all sign in with OAuth, so they work as connectors in claude.ai. Ayrshare's MCP server authenticates only with a static Bearer header, and Ayrshare says a personal custom connector in claude.ai or Claude Desktop cannot send one.
Is there a hosted Postiz alternative so I don't run a server?
Yes. Antwork, Buffer and Metricool are hosted services with remote MCP servers; you paste a URL or pick them from a directory and sign in. Postiz's own hosted plans also mean no server to run, from $29 a month.
